The Engineering Legacy of Michal Ursíny in Zagreb and Croatia

In the proceedings volume “Modern, Postmodern, Inherited”, published in honor of Professor Zlatko Jurić, a contribution by Jasenka Kranjčević, PhD, entitled “Michal Ursíny and His Work in Zagreb and Croatia” was published.

The paper presents the innovative solutions developed by civil engineer Michal Ursíny for Zagreb’s municipal technical infrastructure in the period 1895–1900. He advocated the establishment of a Technical Faculty in Zagreb, which was founded twenty years after his departure. Today, his works form part of the technical heritage.

After leaving Zagreb, Ursíny served twice as Rector and five times as Dean at the Technical University in Brno.
