On 11 March 2026, the WISe – WorkIn' Science Career Days were held at the Faculty of Science, University of Zagreb, organized by the PMF Career Centre and students. The aim of the event was to introduce students to the labour market, opportunities for internships, and various career paths after graduation.
As part of the programme, a round table, organized by the Department of Geography, was held, featuring Leona Matotek from the Institute for Tourism. The panel focused on sharing experiences and advice with geography students regarding professional development and employment opportunities. During the discussion, panelists reflected on their career paths from graduation to their first job and the challenges faced at the beginning of their careers. They also presented employment opportunities for geographers, examples of applying geographical knowledge in practice, the projects they are involved in, and the skills required in today’s labour market.
By participating in the panel, the representative of the Institute for Tourism introduced students to career opportunities in tourism research and science, highlighting the importance of an interdisciplinary approach in the study of tourism and related topics.
