From September 18 to 19, 2025, Šibenik hosted the third international Waste2Energy conference, dedicated to the topics of thermal waste recovery and waste management. The conference was organized by the International Academy of Sustainable Development and the Waste Management Center of Šibenik-Knin County Bikarac, with the support of the City of Šibenik, Šibenik-Knin County, and the Institute for Tourism from Zagreb.
The Director of the Institute for Tourism, Assoc. Prof. Damir Krešić, PhD, addressed the participants, while in the part of the program dedicated to waste management in tourist destinations, Assoc. Prof. Mira Zovko, PhD, gave a presentation and took part in a panel discussion on the topic “Specific Waste Management Challenges in Tourist Destinations”.
