TOMAS Croatia 2022/2023 survey is the latest in a series of research on the characteristics of tourist demand in Croatia conducted under the name TOMAS since 1987. TOMAS survey is one of the oldest continuous visitor surveys in Europe. Its methodological framework was established by the Institute for Tourism back in 1987.
TOMAS Croatia 2022/2023 is the second national study on the characteristics of tourist demand in Croatia conducted throughout the country (both, in the Adriatic and the Continental Croatia), and covering year-round tourist demand (from June 2022 to June 2023). TOMAS Croatia 2022/2023 survey was conducted on a sample of 14,632 respondents/tourists in hotels, hostels, camps and family accommodation establishments (rooms/apartments/houses) in 148 destinations along the country. Domestic tourists and foreign tourists from 19 main generating markets were included.
In the segment of summer tourist demand in coastal destinations, the TOMAS Croatia 2022/2023 survey continues the TOMAS Summer survey, allowing for conclusions about trends in summer tourist demand. Additionally, for the first time, the research presents trends in the characteristics of tourist demand in the continental region for the period 2019–2022/2023.
In the book, following the research methods, main findings, and trends, comprehensive research results are presented in tables, in both, the Croatian and the English language. The research results are organized into seven chapters: by the country of tourists’ origin, by region (overall, for the summer season, and for the off-season), by type of accommodation, by season, and by the main motive of arrival.
