From 7 to 11 September 2026, the Faculty of Economics of the University of Maribor organised the Blended Intensive Programme (BIP) “Designing Sustainability Strategies”. The programme provided students with practical knowledge about the role of sustainability in corporate governance, business strategies and decision-making. Through interactive lectures, workshops and work in international teams, students developed skills in the areas of sustainable business models, the circular economy, project management and responsible finance.
The programme included Dr. sc. Izidora Marković Vukadin, Senior Research Associate, and Dr. sc. Vedran Milojica, Senior Teaching Assistant, as lecturers.
Dr. sc. Izidora Marković Vukadin delivered an online lecture entitled “Good Practice Presentation: Designing Sustainable and Climate-Resilient Tourism Destinations: Indicators, Carrying Capacity and Destination Management”, in which she presented to students the importance of sustainability and climate resilience of tourism destinations, measuring sustainability through indicators, as well as the concepts and Croatian examples of destination carrying capacity.
Dr. sc. Vedran Milojica conducted a workshop on tourism destination management and the application of research in management decision-making. During the workshop, students designed survey questionnaires aimed at identifying the attitudes of visitors and local residents towards key challenges in the destination, such as waste management, congestion, transport, infrastructure, climate change, and the protection of natural and cultural heritage.
Particular emphasis was placed on designing questions that provide concrete information on what needs to be improved, addressed as a priority, or preserved in the destination.
