Dr. Izidora Marković Vukadin from the Institute for Tourism appeared on the HRT program Studio 4, where she discussed the phenomenon of apartmentization along the Croatian coast. She emphasized that, although there has been a significant increase in new beds in private accommodation over the past five years, the entire coast cannot be considered overbuilt.
She pointed out that apartmentization brings certain advantages, but also challenges, particularly regarding the quality of the offer and the imbalance between prices and services. As an important step forward, she highlighted the new Tourism Act, which introduces the obligation to prepare carrying capacity studies for destinations and provides local communities with tools for sustainable tourism management.
