A meeting of experts from the national statistical offices of Cyprus, Greece, Malta, and Croatia was held at the Croatian Bureau of Statistics, with the agenda related to the further development of tourism statistics, especially in the Mediterranean countries.
The Croatian Bureau of Statistics, as the main institution responsible for producing the official statistics in the Republic of Croatia and the main representative in the European and national associations responsible for statistics, recognized the importance of tourism statistics as a topic that plays a pivotal role for all four countries, given the great importance tourism has for the national economies of these countries.
Our colleagues from the Institute for tourism (Damir Krešić, Ph.D. Neven Ivandić and Zrinka Marušić, mag.) presented Croatian experiences with measuring the sustainability of tourism and the development of the Tourism Satellite Account (TSA) of Sustainable Tourism.
