NaTour4CChange (Interreg Euro-Med): The Kick-off Meeting

The kick-off meeting of the NaTour4CChange project was held on Tuesday, 5th of March 2024.

The Project is financed as part of the Interreg Euro-MED program and started on January 1st, 2024. The total duration of the project is 33 months.

The main focus of the project is on the management of sustainable tourism in areas with high ecological value, by connecting tourism and nature to solve the climate crisis through an ecosystem-based approach. The project will establish common methods that enable participating regions to assess their tourism-related climate adaptation and mitigation priorities and to take climate action through plans and strategies, supported by cooperative governance. In coastal destinations, cross-sectoral teams will create specific tourism climate action plans, focusing on climate adaptation, where nature-based solutions will be tested to ensure their feasibility, supported by innovative marketing and communication approaches.

The Institute for Tourism Zagreb is the leading partner of the project, while the project involves a total of 10 partners from 8 Mediterranean countries (IUCN (Spain), Plan Bleu (France), CPMR (France), HSPN (Greece), Regional Ministry of Tourism of Andalusia (Spain), Regione Autonoma della Sardegna (Italy), Natura Jadera (Croatia), Region of Crete (Greece), Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management HNŽ (BiH)). In addition to the above, another 18 associated partners from 9 countries are involved in the project.
