Institute for Tourism Research Recognised in National Media

The value of scientific research lies not only in its contribution to the scientific community, but also in its ability to reach the wider public and enhance understanding of current social and environmental challenges.

One such example is the joint scientific study conducted by the Institute for Tourism and the Croatian Meteorological and Hydrological Service (DHMZ) as part of the PACT VIRA project, funded by the Croatian Science Foundation (HRZZ). The study analyses the climate vulnerability of tourism on Croatian islands and highlights the growing number of heat stress days on the island of Vis and their potential implications for tourism.

The research findings have attracted attention beyond the scientific community and have been featured in leading Croatian national media, including Večernji list, Jutarnji list and tportal. This media interest underscores the importance of communicating scientific knowledge to the wider public and contributes to raising awareness of the impacts of climate change on tourism, as well as the need for the timely adaptation of tourism destinations.
