Our researchers, Dr. Mira Zovko and Dr. Izidora Marković Vukadin, in collaboration with Damjan Zovko from the University of Zagreb, Faculty of Economics, have published a scientific article entitled Understanding the IPCC Climate Risk-Centered Framework and Its Applications to Assessing Tourism Resilience in the journal Geographies.
This article represents a new contribution to the scientific literature, exploring tourism adaptation to climate challenges through the IPCC’s risk-centered framework (CRA). The paper provides an overview of existing approaches to vulnerability assessment (VA), identifies their limitations, and argues for a shift toward a more holistic approach—climate risk assessment (CRA), which incorporates hazard, vulnerability, and exposure, along with a step-by-step framework for its application in tourism. The authors also emphasize the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration among tourism, environmental, and climate experts to strengthen the resilience of tourism communities in an era of intensified climate change.
