The National Recovery and Resilience Plan 2021-2026. (https://planoporavka.gov.hr/) foresees the implementation of the reform (C 1.6) entitled Development of sustainable, innovative and resilient tourism. The reform is implemented by the Ministry of Tourism and Sports in cooperation with the Institute for Tourism. In accordance with the scope of the planned reform, the tripartite 'Agreement on partnership in the implementation of activities within the framework of the reform foreseen in the National Recovery and Resilience Plan' between the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, the Ministry of Science and Education and the Institute for Tourism, on April 22, 2022, the development and establishment of the System of Satellite Accounts of Sustainable Tourism of the Republic of Croatia for 2022 was launched, with accompanying scientific bases and analyses, which will become a tool for managing public policies. The project is financed by the European Union - NextGenerationEU.

 

The system of sustainable tourism satellite accounts of the Republic of Croatia for the year 2022 consists of the Satellite Account of Sustainable Tourism of the Republic of Croatia at the NUTS 1, HR0 level (hereinafter: SAT-ROT RH) and the Regional Satellite Accounts of Tourism Sustainability at the NUTS 2 levels (HR02, HR03 , HR05 and HR06) with an emphasis on the region of Adriatic Croatia (NUTS-2, HR03) for which satellite accounts are prepared at the level of NUTS-3 regions, and defined indicators of sustainable tourism for selected destinations (hereinafter: SAT-ROT REG).


The agreement established that the Institute for Tourism is obliged to prepare the document Satellite account of sustainable tourism of the Republic of Croatia - methodological framework by September 30, 2023 at the latest, and all other project activities by June 30, 2026 at the latest.
